Tania Whittier didn’t intend to become known as a non-toxic hair specialist…
After decades in the industry she discovered
that you can get the same results without all the chemicals and
has become passionate about getting this message out to the
world.
Tania started her career the day after she graduated high
school in Wisconsin. Ready for more, she packed up and
headed to Chicago where she specialized in color at a top salon
and eventually became an educator. It was there that she
became really interested in hair texture and treatments. Tania
made a promise to herself “When you start getting bored, listen and find another adventure,” so
after 4 years she packed her bags and moved to Los Angeles. She landed at Meche soon after their
opening where she focused on color and treatments; however, she started noticing that the
treatments were making her feel sick, gave her headaches and made her eyes water.
It was a client who opened Tania’s eyes about non-toxic smoothing treatments on the market that
could only be accessed by licensed hair stylists. She started experimenting with the treatments and
loved the results on her clients. She now carries a variety of non-toxic smoothing treatments that
are geared toward various client needs. She has created her own way of customizing the
treatments as it’s no longer a one size fits all situation. A few years ago after seeing how successful
non-toxic treatments were (both from client demand and the results), she knew it was time to
research salon professional color options. She has found products that give the results she expects
without the chemicals and dyes. Tania has a high standard of maintaining the healthy integrity of
her clients hair by using the most natural products available on the market without compromising
the results or longevity.
Tania truly enjoys learning about the ingredients and the science behind how these treatments
work. She is passionate about helping other hairstylists learn about cleaner products and
encouraging them to make healthier choices for clients as well as themselves -- they are the ones
day in and day out breathing in these chemicals daily. Above all, her favorite part of the job is
talking with clients and helping them achieve their dream hair while doing it in the most natural
way possible.
